Prez sent a delegation from Jubilee House, Parl, NPP, to apologize to Bagbin & beg him to approve E-Levy-Dr. Apaak

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr. Clement Apaak has revealed that the Majority in Parliament has gone to apologize to the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin for their “
disrespect” against him.

The lawmaker says the Majority apologized for their attack on the Speaker and have pleaded for forgiveness.

He further alleges that the Majority and its leadership pleaded that the Speaker helps them to pass the E-Levy.

According to him, the Speaker told them to use the same platform they used to denigrate him to apologize.

The MP said it was not just MPs, but a delegation that had some in the leadership in Parliament, some big party people, and some from the Jubilee House.

Dr. Apaak wondered why the Majority and its leadership, as well as party persons, would attack the Speaker and go behind closed doors to apologize.

On the issue of the E-levy, the Speaker reminded them that he would continue to be impartial and unyielding to any manipulation, he disclosed.

The MP who has personally opposed the E-Levy said the government and the Majority in the House cannot deny the claims since there is an evidence to support his assertions.

Further details available indicates that five leading members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government had a meeting with the Speaker to apologise to him on behalf of the party and the Majority for certain comments which some members of NPP including some of their Members of Parliament (MPs) made against him and his his office following the fracas that ensued in parliament over the E-Levy approval.

The Speaker is his response said :“I am not a Speaker for any political party not even my party, NDC. I am a Speaker for Ghana and that’s how it will be under my reign”, Mr Bagbin was reported to have told them.

” Those people did not only attack me but our democracy and one of the most important democratic institutions in the country which I represent”.
