An initiative by the CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Science to help poultry farmers hatch their eggs and get rid of electronic waste from the environment has won the ultimate prize at this year’s Enactus National Competition supported by KPMG and Standard Chartered Bank.
Formerly known as UDS Navrongo Campus, the school presented its project to a panel of judges selected from various sectors of industry after which they emerged ultimate winners.
The students used old refrigerators to produce incubation materials for poultry farmers in the Northern and Upper West Regions.
The Enactus National Competition begun in the year 2000 to support innovations from tertiary schools to be connected to potential investors and global business promoters.
More than 16 tertiary schools participated in this year’s event with support from Auditing and Accounting firm KPMG and Standard Chartered Bank.
Programmes Manager for Enactus, Evans Hockey explained to Joy Business that this has been an impactful journey that needs support from the business community in Ghana.
“Enactus competition over the years have changed many lives in the country and it’s about time corporate Ghana gets on board to support this initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovations” he noted.
Team Lead for the school, Awanah Michael has been speaking with Joy Business about the future of the project, saying, they hope to expand and employ more people from the Northern and Upper West Regions.
KPMG, a Global sponsor of Enactus, again sponsored the Enactus Ghana National Event this year.
Enactus is the world’s largest experiential learning platform for university students dedicated to creating a better world while developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators.
In a congratulatory message from the Senior Partner of KPMG, Anthony K. Sarpong, the school has been urged to involve many youths into the innovation to create employment for the school and surrounding communities.
Congratulations to CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (formally, UDS, Navrongo campus) who emerged as the winner of the 2021 Enactus Ghana National Competition.
They were awarded GH¢5,000, a trophy and will represent Ghana in the October 2021 Enactus Virtual World Cup.
