KFC, McDonald's, refuses to buy from local producers in the country in which they operate

This news is making headlines on many platforms, that American giants food companies like KFC and McDonald’s and others, refuse’s to buy from local farmers for example potatoes.

The argument from those companies is that due to meeting quality standards, they can’t buy from local producers. I think this doesn’t make any sense, and this is another dubious way to support American farmers through in the name of protecting quality standards.

As always I could be looking things from a narrow perspective and if you think this should be accepted or not , feel free to share your thoughts
