Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) president Gianni Infantino has named the two African countries which can host the World Cup after South Africa in 2010.
South Africa remains the only African nation who hosted the FIFA World Cup since the creation of the competition in 1930. So far, no other country in the continent realize the exploit.
Speaking after Algeria’s triumph over Tunisia in Araba Cup final, Infantino said there are two countries in Africa which has the capacity of hosting the international competition one day.
“It is possible to hold the World Cup in an Arab country, such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt after they succeeded in organizing the AFCON, and Morocco, who submitted a file to host the global event” , Football governing body’s president told MBC as per KF .
Gianni Infantino believes Egypt and Morocco can host FIFA World Cup.
“Qatar succeeded in organizing the Arab Cup, and we saw that through the eight stadiums that were set up in an area not exceeding 60 kilometers, which will allow the fans to watch four matches in one day.
“I received many calls during the Arab Cup demanding that the competition be organized more often, and I support this. Arab countries are eligible to host the World Cup. The Arab public deserves the best.
“I think that the Arab Cup imposed itself after millions watched it, especially in the knockout rounds. The tournament succeeded by all standards.
“The Arab Cup will not conflict with the Asian Cup, the tournament will benefit Asian and African football as well,” Gianni Infantino added.
Months ago, Egypt Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi revealed that Egypt are planning to host 2030 World Cup and 2032 Olympic Games.
