Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko proposes law against adultery

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, is advocating for a Private Member’s Bill for a law against adultery.

In his view, since the majority of Ghanaians are Christians, he is motivated to push for the bill to uphold the Christian values since in “Leviticus 20:10, adultery is a serious sin punishable by death.”
Mr Otchere-Darko’s comment follows a backlash he has received for opposing the anti-LGBTQI+ Bill in Parliament.

He fears Ghana might be blacklisted by the international community for promoting hate against homosexuals.

But proponents of the Bill, led by Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, said their motivation is to protect Ghanaian values.

In the same spirit, Mr Otchere-Darko, in a post on Facebook, proposed a Private Members Bill on adultery.

A bill against adultery? Not bad. That way we are only enforcing what is written in Leviticus 20:10. We might look into that in the future but right now, let the bill against homosexuals be passed.

Gabby Darko is afraid Ghana will not get loans and grants when his uncle; Nana Addo goes begging. No Country will blacklist Ghana for passing a law that affirms our stance and protects the citizens against homosexuality. If he can lobby for a bill to be passed against adultery, why not, Ghanaians will be so happy about that .

Most people opposing to the bill fear this, and the truth is they should because we are not that independent to be making decision that will make us suffer in the future.I really don’t support the lgbtqi+ movement but with or without the bill people are still going to practice it lowkey, so why pass a bill that’s going to let us suffer in future
